If you’re planning a move to the Dutch capital or staying for an extended period, finding the right apartment rental Amsterdam long term is a top priority. Whether you’re an expat relocating for work, a digital nomad settling in for a season, or a couple seeking a home-like experience, long-term apartment rentals offer unmatched comfort, convenience, and value.
In this blog, we’ll walk you through the 4 big reasons why long-term rentals in Amsterdam are a smart choice, especially when compared to hotels or short-stay options. Plus, we’ll introduce you to one of the most reliable and affordable providers for long-term living in Amsterdam South: Short Stay Houses.
1. More Space, More Comfort
Let’s face it, hotel rooms can feel cramped after a few days, let alone a few months. Long-term apartment rentals offer something no hotel can: space to live and breathe.
You’ll typically have:
- A fully equipped kitchen (cook your own meals and save money)
- Separate living and sleeping areas
- Dedicated workspace for remote work or study
- Storage space for clothing, equipment, and personal items
With an apartment rental Amsterdam long term, you’ll enjoy the feeling of a true home, not just a temporary bed.
2. Major Cost Savings
Staying in a hotel for weeks or months quickly becomes expensive. Long-term apartments provide better rates for extended stays, often with all utilities included. No surprise bills, no extra fees for Wi-Fi or laundry.
At Short Stay Houses, all-inclusive pricing covers:
- Gas, water, electricity
- High-speed WiFi
- Weekly cleaning
- Fresh bed linen and towels
- Free parking
This transparent pricing makes it easier to budget your stay, especially if your trip is for work, relocation, or in between homes.
3. Flexible & Hassle-Free Booking
One of the biggest advantages of an apartment rental Amsterdam long term is flexibility. Unlike traditional rentals with rigid contracts and agency fees, providers like Short Stay Houses offer:
- Month-to-month options
- No long-term commitment
- Fast, hassle-free booking
- English-speaking support
This is ideal for:
- Expats waiting for permanent housing
- Business travelers on assignment
- People renovating or selling their home
You don’t need to worry about furniture, utilities, or setup. Just arrive with your suitcase.
4. A True Local Experience
Hotels are built for tourists. But if you’re in Amsterdam for more than a few weeks, you’ll want to feel connected to the local lifestyle. Renting an apartment long term lets you:
- Shop at nearby markets
- Bike through quiet residential streets
- Enjoy coffee at a favorite local café
- Experience the rhythm of Dutch daily life
